High-School Friends = Long Term Friends

I absolutely love when "old" friends visit, and I use the word "old" very loosely!  Being out in AZ, I don't get to see a lot of my Elementary, Jr.  High & High School friends.

I got to see Melissa Blevins Folsom in May and boy did we have fun while she was here.  We didn't do ANYTHING but yet we had the most fun ever!!!

Last night Deanna Browning Moore and her family was passing through Phoenix on their way home from a 2 week long vacation.  It was so good to see them.  Marty, Deanna, Madison, Merick and Marlon are just the perfect little family!  We went shopping with the kids and between the 2 families, we almost had to dish out $900 for a kayak that was on DISPLAY!  Geesh, these dern boys!  haha!

We ended the night with dinner at Margaritaville at Westgate.  The kids got to see where the Arizona Cardinals play and the "dancing" water fountain.  While Merick was minding his business going to the bathroom, he ran in to the left fielder for OSU Cowboys baseball team!  Merick was dressed head to toe in his OSU clothing and, I-don't-even-know-his-name, Kyle I think, said something to him first!  The boys all got pictures with him, but the topper of that was Marty took the picture in his OU t-shirt.  Smh...can't take the family divided anywhere!  LOL

Anywho, the point of this little blog entry was just that I get so tickled when I can visit with my childhood friends.  Being so far away, I miss them so much and when we see each other, it's like a day has never passed!
(we had no idea which camera to look at...we had Marty with one and Madison with the other one! haha)
Thank you for sharing part of your vacation with us!  It was so good to see you guys!!!!  xoxo

When your past meets up with your present & future

I love how facebook, by way of Google helps reconnect those you haven't been in contact with.  Whether it be a few weeks, a month or even years...many, many years, it's so great to re-connect.  Those that know me, know that I'm a google FREAK.  When Stefan was sick a few years ago and it was so rare, Google became my best friend.  Since then I have used google for any and everything.  From moving an itunes account from one laptop to another, from saving an ipod that had been ran through the wash cycle, to what recipe to make with what ingredients I have on hand...google is my go-to gal!

In saying that, I was googling the other night as I do a lot at night in my "quiet" time when the kids go to bed and my mind wanders.  I think of things I have to do in the up coming days, think of the memories I have with my kids, my husband, my family, an on occasion, my mind even wonders to my childhood.

That's what it did this past evening.  I was thinking of my little home in Sayre, America, south of town and the few people that actually lived out that way versus the other parts of our small town.  We had the Vidaurri's that lived in one "row" of trailers alongside the road that led you to our little area, then you get to the corner of the road you'd turn down to come to my home and there would be the "Callahan" family on one corner.  Driving down my road, you'd get to my home, a little further down, you'd get to the "Reed" family, around that corner the "Easter" family and on over the overpass, the "Hearn" family and "Cotts" families.  We all lived in little patches in that area because we all had land we lived on.  The "Robertson" family lived right behind us and our pasture we lived on and they had their own patch of land they lived on.  So we were all right there together in our own little worlds.

When you turned off the highway headed down the red dirt road that led to my home, on the opposite corner of the Callahan's, there was a work yard and a family lived there....The Smith's.  This family with the Adams family and the Sanders family (who lived on the north part of town) had a bond.   We thought that bond was broken when the Sanders family moved to Kentucky and the Smith family moved to Texas, but in fact, the circle will never be unbroken!

I "found" Amy Sanders when I was working in a grocery store out here in Phoenix, AZ, at least 20 years ago.  Her and her little family walked in the grocery store I was working in and I recognized that face and knew exactly who she was, however, I could NEVER approach her.  I mean, I was in the big city for goodness sakes, they don't live by country code and you can walk up to anyone and strike up a conversation.  I saw Amy walk in with a "boy", cause that's what they were 20 years ago, still kids themselves it seemed like and she was pushing a shopping cart with THREE (3) little ones in it...all stepping stones, each less than a year apart, all born in the month of December!  lol  I ran to my friend Shelley, who also worked at the grocery store and told her "You have to go up to that girl over there and ask her if her name is Amy Sanders".  After much convincing of her to do it and why I couldn't do it, she did it for me.  She walked up to her and said, "Hello, excuse me...Does your name happen to be Amy Sanders"?....anyone that knows Amy knows she got a little bit of an attitude back.  lol  She said "It's Amy Stalcup but my last name used to be Sanders, why?"  When I heard her say that, I knew it was safe to come from around the corner and face her.  lol  As I came out from around the corner and she saw me, it was like all those years disappeared and we instantly bonded with each other like we had just talked that morning.  We hugged, we cried, we re-connected!  It was the best thing ever.  I met her husband, Tim and her 3 children, Alexis, Mariah & Timothy and every since then we've been "sisters" again.  Remember, we grew up together and were pretty much inseperable...meeting up with her again as young adults, it took us right back to that place and that's how it's been over the past 20 years!  Her kids have grown up in to young adults themselves, she's seen me grow my little family and the "cousins" are just as close.  It's a mini-made family!  She now only lives 2 hours from me and we get together as much as our schedules allow us too.  It used to be once or twice a month, but now it's a little less than that and with our kids getting older, it's going to be back to the once or twice a month.

Now that you know the back story on Amy and I...let me tell you about our 3rd little person in our family unit...Carolyn Smith!  She moved away and our families kept in touch, I remember going to Perryton, Texas with my family and stayed and visited a few times.  Then the contact dwindled off.  I've thought about Carolyn many many times over the years but never really knew how to contact her.  I mean, I knew her mom and dad's names, but you just don't if people still live in the same place, people get a divorce and remarry, etc.  So, I was never able to find her.  The other night I was googling, (night) dreaming and decided to google her name.  I mean, really, she's probably married so there's no way I'll find her.  So I facebook her name...nope, no search results for her.  However, just so you know, there are A LOT of Smith's out there!  Wow!  haha!  I go back to google and I google her mom and dad's names in Perryton, Tx and low and behold a search result comes up.  As I click on it, I"m very saddened to read that it's her sister Susie's (Suzanne) obituary.  I started crying.  I haven't seen them in over 22-25 years and yet, reading her obituary was like I had just received the phone call.  The obituary was from a few years back and she had her own little family as well.  A husband, a son and a daughter.  As I continued reading, I read her children's names and we all know FB is huge for young teens, so I googled their names.  JACKPOT!  I found the son...I messaged him and let him know who I was, etc.  After doing that, I went back to the google article I was reading and I saw Carolyn's name, Weezy (Alicia's) name and everything.  I went back on FB, searched for them and FOUND THEM ALL!!!!  I was so excited!!!  I messaged my mom, my sister Amy and Lisa and told them who I found and that I was so excited and that I hoped they remembered us and would accept our friend requests.  haha!  Wouldn't that be embarrassing if they didn't remember us?

When everyone woke up yesterday morning, Wednesday, they all got our friend requests.  They remembered all of us and it was just like it was in school and growing up.  The bond sealed.  We have spent the last day, evening and in to today reconnecting, catching up, planning visits, etc.  I am so glad to have my sisters back in my life.  Life is too short, as I remembered with Susie leaving us all too soon!

If you have any old friendships, current friendships that are broken or family relationships that are broken and you want to fix it.  DO IT!  We are only on this earth for a limited time and we don't know how long that is.

I'm so happy to have found Carolyn after all of this time...and by the way...in case you knew her too and wonder if she's changed....she hasn't!  She's the same girly girl with a tomboy side!   xoxo

Wow! It's been a minute!

I have no idea why I stopped blogging.  Maybe it was because people that sat back and judged others for voicing their comments and daily activities got in my head and I felt "bad" for expressing me and who I am.  My favorite quote these days..."I'll do me...you do you."

As we know, I work from home and I look forward to visiting through my little laptop/ipad with my friends and family since a phone call is obsolete around here with how loud it can get with my 4 kids and however many daycare kids I have on any given day.  I like keeping up with everyone and how they're doing and I like letting people know how we're doing since we're so far away from everyone.

So...my blog is going to be utilized more...I mean really, I have a lot to say.  Some days, not so good...some days will be great!  That's how life is!  :)

It's not like I'm that busy or anything with having 3 businesses, facebooking, tweeting, emailing and that's just things INSIDE the home...then we add on couponing, football practices, football games, all the other sports  in the other seasons, being a mom, being a wife...I mean, let's add blogging in there too!  I'm diggin' it!

Stefan and his obsession(s)

My husband, yes my husband, the man most of you know is OBSESSED with fixing things to make them work and be like brand new! When he was little he used to take apart his bike or remote control cars just to put them back together. Some of you are probably thinking, what's wrong with that? Well, I think of Stefan as one of the characters of the old 70's show "Sanford & Son". He will collect and collect and collect things because he "might" use them one day. Hence the reason I'm posting this blog.

He got a wild hair up his hind end 2 weeks ago. He has always, always, always searched Craigslist.org for "deals". Well, he came across the "FREE" section of Craigslist. Talk about a gold mine for my husband! hahaha! He found a hot tub on there and low and behold he went and picked it up because he just knew he was going to be able to fix it up and we were going to enjoy "water" during the winter since the pool is not usable right now due to the water feeling like ice.

Well, he couldn't stop at just one hot tub. He was constantly on the website finding more hot tubs. He said he wanted to use them for "parts." UGH! You're thinking I have tons of hot tubs in my backyard now don't you? LOL Well, he has brought the hot tubs home, taken the parts off and then take the "shell" to the dump and dropped it off! hahahaha! So, needless to say, we don't have a stockpile of hot tubs in my backyard. LOL

However, we have one that is in perfect working condition that he got for free and fixed up and we are enjoying relaxing in it each and every night thanks to my husband, the step son of "Sanford & Son". :)

My bag! My bag!

I did it!  I went shopping and got "my bag(s)"  Whoohoo!

With my gift card I was able to get TWO purses, TWO wallets AND a "C" key ring!  hahahahahaha!  I was in heaven shopping.  I had the choice of anything in the store and this is what I chose - after much thought of course!  hahahahahaha!

Andre AKA King Lion

For those of you that don't know, Andre is in the gifted program at school and his "Project IDEAL" class did a play called "Why do Mosquitos buzz in your ear?"

Andre was King Lion and he had a huge speaking part.  He did sooooo good.  I was very proud of him.  Stefan and I think he's on the road to Julliard!  haha!

Do you want to know why Mosquito's buzz in your ear?  Well the African's believe that it is the mosquitos way of asking you if you're mad at them.  How cute huh?!

Enjoy the pics of KING LION!!!

Why do they lie?

I just don't understand it? Why lie about something you know it'll catch up to you? I'm sure it's like the pot calling the kettle black, because I know I did it when I was young, but still. Geesh!

First of all, Bink got his phone taken away. He deleted all of his messages and then told me he didn't have any?! I went on att.com, and showed him that he had texts on his phone from 8:30am to 2:45pm! all during school hours! He still chose to lie to me and told me he didn't text! WTH?! Are you kidding me?

Then, last night, the boys were in the hot tub...they know it's not a pool, you just sit and relax in it. Well, all of a sudden a huge splash of water came out over the side. Stefan asks them, "What happened? Who splashed?" What splash dad? There's no splash...again....are you kidding me??????

I don't get it! If I make it though these boys' childhood into young adulthood, I sooooo deserve a freakin' medal, for cryin' out loud!

Anyone have any words of wisdom? I'm about to sell my boys on ebay if I don't get any! LOL J/K!!!!

Country Girl's getting a COACH!

I have to say, after much hard work, mama's gettin' a COACH! The incentive came out from Gold Canyon June 1st and we had until August 30th to reach certain goals....I printed out the tracking form, I set little goals to reach the ultimate goal and I DID IT!

The incentive increments were a $200 card, a $400 card and an $800 card. I did every incentive there was and guess which one I got? You are right!!!!!!!! The $800 one!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited! I should have my card around Oct. 20th or so and I am going shopping with someone else's money!

This country girl is now going to be city-fied! If at least looking at me from the outside! haha!

Thanks to everyone's support through all of this because I'm SURE, that whenever you saw me coming, you thought, "Oh gawd! Please don't let her mention GC, I'm sick of hearing about it!" But, you never voiced it out loud to me, and for that I appreciate you! LOL

Now...on to the next incentive - CASH AND TARGET GIFT CARDS!!! YEE-HAW!!!!

I swear!

Hell I don't even know where to begin with this post. This is mainly a venting post because I am so beyond frustrated, I tell ya! MY SON, the 14 year old is going to be the death of me, he really, truly is! Why that boy CAN NOT turn his school work in is beyond me??????? I have been in touch with his Math teacher since basically week 2 of school. I have set up extra meeting times with him and Dante numerous times and my son is still failing. WTH? It's not that he doesn't understand the material either, he just goofs off in class, doesn't do his homework or if he does it, he doesn't turn the crap in! What is going through this boys head?????????
THEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to top all of this shit off, I get an envelope full of scoreboard pieces....YEP! My son decided goofing off in P.E. was the thing to do and "somehow" a ball went flying and hit the scoreboard hard enough to SHATTER it into pieces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Mom, I swear! It was an accident! I didn't mean for it to break!" Whatever! I'm so over the excuses!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, the nice little Athletic Director puts all of the scoreboard pieces in an envelope and sent them home to me! (oh yes he did!) OMG is all I have to say! Then, he has to pay for it to be replaced! Okay...I can feel my blood pressure rising again, I need to close this....If child abuse was legal, I'd whoop (not spank) his ass right now! UGH!

Sorry...editing to post a pic!!!
